The company and its products are named after its founder, Earl Silas Tupper, who improved the regular plastic container and revolutionized the direct selling approach, simultaneously. Tupperware served as a means, for women who returned to their homes after World War II, to still make an income even while handling her domestic responsibilities. Like in any direct sales organization, the company’s sales force are independent contractors responsible for filing their own Federal and State Income Tax forms. Consultants may contact and sell to individuals face-to-face, one-on-one, by telephone, fax or email. Consultants may also manage their own replicated website.
In the 1960s, Tupperware expanded into Europe, with the same concept that was used in the American market. This concept has spread around the world, with over 2.5 million distributors in over a hundred countries. Tupperwares sales revenues reached beyond $2 billion in 2010 alone.

To become a Tupperware Independent distributor, two business kits will have to be purchased. Direct sales will lead to a 25% commission, and when you surpass a certain amount, you may even receive five or 10% bonuses.
